Wow, good news for a change! Apple's got a press release that claims the Apple Store has raked in $12 million in orders in its first 30 days, making it the third largest e-commerce web site on the internet. Steve Jobs, of course, is beaming like a proud parent over his new baby.

This leads us to believe that the discontinuation of the "free Quicktake with every G3 purchase" special offer really was due to its success, not to its failure. It now seems entirely possible that Apple just plain ran out of the things after giving them away for a couple of weeks.

What does this mean for the upcoming quarterly financial results, in light of the negative slant in Apple's recent 10-K filing? Probably not a lot; after all, $12 million really is a drop in the bucket for Apple. But it does bode well for the future, if Apple can continue to implement ideas that work.
