On-The-Set Shot from TNT's "Pirates of Silicon Valley"

Now that the iMac hoopla is dying down, it's been a relatively slow news week in the Mac world-- and that means fewer plot twists for AtAT. Luckily, undercover AtAT agents have infiltrated the secret set of TNT's upcoming "Pirates of Silicon Valley" made-for-cable movie, which aims to unfold the dramatic rise to power of such high-tech visionaries as our own Steve Jobs (and such right-place/right-time businessfolk as Bill "Q-DOS Rules!" Gates). They have forwarded us the above photograph, depicting a scene towards the end of the film in which Steve Jobs (portrayed by the astoundingly versatile Noah Wyle in state-of-the-art makeup) delivers his keynote address at the 1997 Seybold convention.

While we at AtAT are thrilled about the prospect of seeing the Apple story shown on the small screen, we're a little concerned that whoever Ted Turner hired to do the costuming might be taking the movie's working title a tad too literally. On the other hand, we like how the writers have taken a bit of artistic license with the true story and introduced Happy Mac, the wisecracking parrot, as Steve's loveable lifetime sidekick. Pre-market response to the addition of Mac (who is portrayed by the voice of Robin Williams) among the twelve-years-and-under demographic has been exceedingly positive, and Ted Turner is reportedly thrilled with the results. The plush "Macintalk Happy Mac" doll, with its built-in library of 120 catch-phrases and included velcro shoulder perch, might just turn out to be next year's "Tickle Me Elmo." (Steve Jobs eye patches and pirate hats are expected to be big sellers for Halloween, too.)
